Writing a fiction book

Intro
I love writing books but I find it hard to start it off. So for my second post I will talk about writing a fiction book. I suppose it's sort of a guide to starting of a book so I hope it helps!

First step
To start off with you need to know what kind of book you are writing. Here are a few genres if you need any help-

  • Adventure- some one or a few people go to search something, save some one or escape from some where. Lot's of things happen some expected some not.
  • Fantasy- Involves magic. There are mythical creatures you could use such as a dragon, wizard, a hobbit, an elf, an ogre, a troll ext.
  • mystery- Basically there is a mystery and some one or a few people are going to try and solve it.
  • horror- Horror involves guts and blood. The characters involved could be assassins, murderers and killer ghoul. (Just some character ideas. You can make up your own.)
  • Thriller- Fast moving and exiting. A lot of the time involves spies. A famous thriller series is Alex rider by Anthony Horovitch.
  • Crime- There is a crime and people are going to either catch the bad guy and there will be a big chase or it's a bit like the mystery genre where people are going to solve the crime. Basically find out who did it.
  • Comedy- A funny book is generally for kids. An idea would be a little boy who gets up to no good. Make sure to add good jokes here and there.
  • Tragedy- Something bad has happened and the main character has to cope with it. < example (I don't normally write tragedy books, sorry)
  • Science-fiction- Futuristic, advanced technology such as robot servants, time machines ext. There might be aliens too! They are always fun to make up!
  • Western- Cowboys, horses, guns and a sheriff! Here are some main features of a western book now what happens?
  • Romance- I find Forbidden love the most interesting. But just normal love is good too. How did the lovers meet and where? What do they do? Is it a happy ending or a sad ending?
  • Historical fiction- you need to have good facts about the time period your book is set in. Some time ideas would be ancient Egypt, ancient Greece, ancient Rome, world war 1 or 2.
  • Animals- A person and an animal have a true bond for example. As long as an animal is mainly involved or it could be a person saving an animal ext.
  • Some ones Diary- Make up a character and write his or hers diary. It's one of the simplest book genres. What will your character get up to? What will he or she put in his or her diary?
